Acne, Burn & Surgical Scars Removal in Beverly Hills

Acne scars can be an unsightly reminder of the history of your skin. Even after your acne has been managed, the battle scars from the experience can stubbornly persist, requiring acne scar removal as the next step in the path back to beautiful, flawless skin.

There are four major types of acne blemishes that can be managed by acne scar removal. Beverly Hills-based Dr. Zein Obagi uses cutting-edge treatments for these scars such as fraxel laser therapy, dermabrasion, and laser resurfacing. The four types of common acne scars include:

  • Ice pick scars – long, column-like scars
  • Rolling scars – wide, shallow scars
  • Boxcar scars – angular edges, usually on the temples or cheeks.
  • Hypertrophic/keloid scars – raised scars or tissue overgrowth that expands beyond the original wound site.

Treatments for acne scar removal and burn scar removal require a more advanced treatment than simple skin wound scars. These scars are often formed within our skin, not as a result of a wound on the surface, which creates a more difficult scar to improve. In Beverly Hills, treatments at the Obagi Skin Health Institute address the unique nature of these complicated acne scars and burn scars.

Surgical Scar Removal

Dr. Zein Obagi employs state-of-the-art surgical and non-surgical treatments at the Obagi Skin Health Institute to help alleviate and eliminate the physical manifestation of your acne or burn history. These treatments include:

  • Laser/Fraxel resurfacing – This laser removes the damaged top layer of skin and tightens the under layer, leaving skin smoother. This procedure usually takes from 5 to 10 days to heal.

  • Fraxel laser therapy – This laser penetrates deep into dermis, decreasing healing time and targeting deep-rooted scars.

  • Chemical Peels – A non-invasive method that has minimal downtime by using safe chemicals to resurface the skin’s outer layers. Repeated at recommended intervals, chemical peels will diminish the look of scars.
